We're excited to announce our new submission themes for 2015 - and we'd be delighted to accept stories on any of them as of this post! You might notice a couple changes below - we've extended the deadline slightly for our first theme of the new year to allow for post-holiday chaos, and we're introducing a month devoted to Flash Fiction of 1,000 words or less - the deadline for that is Tuesday, 30th June.

Otherwise, the same rules apply - send your submissions to us at info@liarsleaguenyc.com, and for full guidelines, just see our Submissions Page. So here they are:

Entrances & Exits (Deadline, Wednesday, 7th January 2015)

Kiss & Breakup (Deadline, Saturday, 28th February 2015)

Born & Bred (Deadline, Thursday, 30th April)

Short & Sweet - Flash Fiction (Deadline, Tuesday, 30th June)

Crimes & Misdemeanors (Deadline, Monday 31st August)

Magic & Moonlight (Deadline, Saturday, 31st October)

Good luck, everyone! And we'll be annouuncing the lineup for our last event of 2014 - featuring four Hearth & Home-themed stories - early next week. Watch this space for details!

We've had an incredibly busy month with shows at Lit Crawl NYC and the Brooklyn Book Festival, so we're a little late in announcing the lineup for October's Body & Mind Show - but man, do we have a great show to make up for it! Yes. Yes we do.

So on Wednesday, 1st October at KGB Bar, we have five original short stories featuring yoga obsessions, phallic architecture, family revelations, emergency rooms, and guilty gospel - plus, as ever, our shambolic literary themed quiz! Here's what's on the lineup next week:

Cross-Heart by Christopher Green

When Elsa Sings by Rayna White

Pool Envy by Stuart Snelson

A Slow Drive Home by Lauren Krauze

We Were Present All Along by Jessica Weisberg

We'll be announcing the performers for the evening very shortly, so watch this space - in the meantime, make a note of it in your diaries - that's 7pm this coming Wednesday, 1st October at KGB Bar in the East Village.

And if you're interested in submitting a piece to us for our next theme, we're currently seeking submissions for our winter Hearth & Home edition.  Stories should be between 800 and 3000 words long, unpublished, and all interpretations are welcome - the submission deadline is Friday 31st October.

Look forward to seeing you next week!

It's a busy month for us here at Liars' League NYC - we took part in a packed Lit Crawl NYC event last weekend, we're about to announce the lineup for next month's Body & Mind edition, and this Tuesday, 16th September at 7pm at 68 Jay Street Bar in DUMBO, it's our Official Brooklyn Book Festival Bookend Event - New York Lies!

We're featuring a special lineup of New York writers for the event - namely:

Manuel Martinez (Center for Fiction Fellow 2013)

Cedrick Mendoza-Tolentino (Center for Fiction Fellow 2014)

Anthony Tognazzini (NYU, New School)

Jeanette Topar

Jerry Sticker

With performances by:

Jon Sprik

Margi Sharp Douglas

Samantha Jane Gurewitz

Denise Poirier

Everett Goldner

What's more we'll also be throwing in our usual themed literary quiz at the intermission, this month featuring New York-themed questions. Big hint: none of the answers will be Paul Auster. It's going to be a great show, guys!

So that's Tuesday, 16th September at 7pm at 68 Jay Street Bar -just a couple blocks away from York Street Station (F Line), a few minutes' walk from High Street Station (A,C), or a very pleasant stroll over the Brooklyn Bridge if that takes your fancy. Entry is, as ever, completely free - we look forward to seeing you there!

In the meantime, you can find out more about the Brooklyn Book Festival and other Bookend Events happening this week on their website.
